OT-TES Core Transceiver

Technical Description

OT-TES
Nova Engineering was selected to design and development a specialized, multiple-band radio called the Core Transceiver by San Diego Research Center, Inc. (SDRC), San Diego, CA. The Core Transceiver is a communications building block for SDRC’s program with the U.S. Army called OT-TES (Operational Test – Tactical Engagement System) Communications Upgrade Program. The purpose of this Communications Upgrade program is to provide a specialized packet-based communications infrastructure to the Army’s Operational Test Command (OTC) test range located at Fort Hood, TX.

Key Points

   • Wide range of data rates available ranging from 9.6 kbps to 727 kbps allows user to select the best coverage vs. data rate tradeoff for each application.
   • Compact, frequency agile, software-defined-radio platform that implements the OT-TES spectrally efficient waveform and network.
   • Operates in four separate bands: 225 – 400 MHz, 560 – 698 MHz, 1350 – 1390 MHz, 1755 – 1850 MHz.
   • Enables use in body-worn instrumentation packages for dismounted troops or use aboard ground vehicles, helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.
